Mr. Mike Mullen, Chief Operating Officer, is a Shale Stimulation Petrophysicist with almost thirty years of experience in unconventional reservoir characterization including Tight Gas, CBM and Shale Oil and Gas. Mr. Mullen is President and Founder of Stimulation Petrophysics Consulting, LLC. Until joining Realm in June 2010, he served as Halliburton’s Technical Professional Manager and led a multidisciplinary group of engineers specializing in the integration of petrophysics, reservoir simulation and economic stimulation design with Halliburton’s Technical Team in Denver, CO.
Mr. Mullen led the successful design and execution of hundreds of successful stimulations across a wide range of North America’s Major Shale plays including the Barnett, Fayetteville, Woodford, Marcellus, Haynesville, Mancos and Bakken shales. He is also very familiar with proving concept on early stage shale plays, which is Realm Energy’s core strategy. Mr. Mullen played an integral role with Halliburton on work done for Realm Energy, over the last year, in its thorough technical analysis of European shale oil and gas resource plays.
With his well logging and petrophysics background, Mr. Mullen was instrumental in developing Halliburton’s StimLOG and ShaleLOG formation evaluation model, used worldwide, to evaluate unconventional reservoirs for pay identification, stimulation and production modeling. He also initiated the company’s CBM log analysis model in the early 1980s. He has authored and contributed to numerous technical papers on diverse unconventional reservoir issues and co-authored a textbook on CBM.
Mr. Mullen graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla. He has been a SPE member for 26 years, a SPWLA member for 25 years and an AAPG member for 3 years. He is a Registered Professional Engineer of New Mexico (1989) and Colorado (2005).
